Good progresses for the draft ISO 17012 on remote auditing of management systems

The first face to face meeting of the ISO/CASCO WG 61 in charge of drafting the new ISO 17021 on remote auditing methods was held in Geneva end of May / early June 2023. The meeting was dedicated to deal with the comments received on the working draft for preparing the next stage, i.e. the committee draft (CD).

Considering the progresses made during the meeting and the significant improvements brought to the document the participants agreed to move the document to the CD stage.

This means that the draft will now reach out to the CASCO members and liaisons to WG 61 to collect feedback and input from a wider audience and collect comments that will serve as basis for the next meeting.

Next steps and timelines are now as follows:

  • An editing group will prepare the CD version by making an editorial review and a consistent check across all the parts of the document by the end of June.
  • The Task group on the Annex A on remote auditing methods will prepare a proposal based of the drafting notes from the meeting.
  • The secretariat will insert the proposal on the Annex A into the consolidated version of ISO/IEC 17012 and prepare the CD version.
  • The secretariat will organize a 3 months CD consultation in CASCO opening at the end of July.
  • The next WG 61 meeting, dedicated to deal with the comments received on the CD to prepare the draft international standard (DIS) will be held by the end of 2023.
