The ISO 22003-2 project goes for a committee draft (CD)

As a reminder, the 22003-2 project (see figure below, captured during the opening of the last September meeting) aims to make the 17065 / 22003-2 binomen equivalent to the 17021-1 / 22003-1, ensuring transparency and confidence within food safety systems certification users.

Didier Blanc, ViaSyst Director is part as expert of the joint ISO/CASCO WG 36 in charge of in this process. WG 36 did agree to have an internal consultation, based on the edited outcome of the meeting, as to whether the next step should be a WD2 or a CD.

The secretariat recommended moving to the CD by explaining that “the CD allows to reach out to a wider community as it involves all the members and A liaisons of ISO TC34 SC17 and ISO CASCO. It does not mean rushing the project. In the standard development process, it is still an early stage and there can be a CD2 if needed.”

The WG consultation closed last week and the results are that a majority supports moving the document to Committee Draft (CD). The ballot is now open for a 3 months commenting and voting period.

We will keep you updated on the outcome and next steps. For any further detail, please just email me at didier.blanc@viasyst.com
