Promising start for the ISO 17024 revision, with a ViaSyst representative involved

Up to 40 international experts participated to the first ISO CASCO WG 30 meeting dedicated to the revision of the ISO 17024 standard. The meeting was held on Zoom the 21, 22 and 23 of March. Didier BLANC, ViaSyst Director and certification expert is part of WG 30.

ISO 17024 sets the requirements applicable to the bodies operating certification of persons. The current version was published in 2012 and needed revision.

A very productive and dynamic cooperative work over the 3 meeting’s days allowed to figure out the essential dimensions and topics to be considered within the revision. Some examples:

    • Use and implication of artificial intelligence for certification of persons
    • Remote approaches
    • Certification schemes
    • Assessment processes (exams, soft skills, alternative to assessors, …)
    • Outsourcing
    • …

The next meeting, dedicated to the elaboration of a first working draft will be held in Geneva in July 2023.
